Lt Robert Austin

Lieutenant Robert Austin currently serves as the Administrative Lieutenant for the Westampton Township Police Department. He oversees the day to day operations of the Detective Division, Records Division, and Evidence Unit.  Lt. Austin started his career with the Westampton Township Police in November of 2007 as a SLEO II Special Police Officer. In April of 2008 he was promoted to the rank of Patrolman. While serving as a patrol officer with the department he became a member of the Traffic Safety Unit responsible for investigating serious motor vehicle collisions. He also served as a Field Training Officer responsible for training and development of newly appointed officers. In October of 2014 Lt. Austin was transferred to the department’s Detective Division where he was responsible for investigating in depth criminal investigations. While assigned to the Detective Division Lt. Austin also became the departments HLEO (Humane Law Enforcement Officer), Alcohol Beverage Control Officer, and a member of the Firearms Unit responsible for firearms training and departmental qualifications. In  February of 2020 Lt. Austin was promoted to the Rank of Sergeant where he was responsible for overseeing one of the department’s 4 patrol squads. In April of 2025 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.

Lt. Austin also serves as one of the departments’ Internal Affairs investigators, Grant Writers, LESO Coordinator, and JIF training Officer. Lt. Austin holds his bachelor’s degree in public administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is also a 2021 Graduate from the New Jersey State Association of Chief’s Of Police Command And Leadership Academy.
