Willingboro MUA

Please be advised, we have contacted and spoken with the Executive Director of the Willingboro MUA, in response to the letter that was mailed on December 1, 2021.

The well referenced in their letter is just one of the six wells they have in operation, and it is on the side of town a significant distance from Westampton. The MUA received notification of the Well violation on 11/8 2021. They shut down the well once they received DEP approval on 11/30.  The other wells are currently testing way below the limit mentioned in the letter, and when they tested parts of the system past well 5a on 12/1, the results of contamination were exceedingly lower.

There is no cause for alarm. The letter you may have received is a standard NJ DEP letter, which must reference a worst-case scenario. We were assured that the level of contamination would take "a lifetime" to achieve toxicity to cause anyone harm.

Water has been flushed from the system, and will be pumped from other existing wells until the remediation work has been completed. We will continue to reach out to the MUA for any updates.
