Trash Contract Update

We realize that with a new trash contract coming soon that residents may have some questions. Right now, we are in the process of bidding out the contract. A private company, called TrashPro, handles the bidding process on our behalf due to the complexity of solid waste contracts.

We have requested many different options to be built into the bid specifications, such as the ability to have streamlined collection with specialized cans that do not require a person to hop off the truck and manually throw trash into the back. The cans will be larger than your average can but will have wheels for easier maneuvering.

Residents will still be able to have bulk trash collected, but it may be as simple as making a request to the Township so that we can ensure the proper truck is sent for collection.

Residents may have the ability to have additional cans. The Township is purchasing the first can for every resident to make this transition easier. Additional cans may be available for purchase.

Until we receive the bids back from the trash companies, we are unable to determine who will be collecting, or how. The process takes about sixty (60) days to complete before the bid opening. We will not be able to see what is offered until then.

We are working with TrashPro to ensure that we receive bids back from as many companies as possible, while attempting to keep the costs as low as we can. We will continue to keep everyone informed as more information becomes available. If you have any questions, please contact the Township Clerk’s office at (609) 267-1891.
